Jordan Sullivan is an artist and writer born in Houston, Texas, who grew up in rural Ohio and suburban Detroit. His work is shaped by an interest in the contradictions of American life and by his experiences living and working across different parts of the country.

In addition to his work as an artist and writer, Sullivan has worked as a construction worker, waiter, dishwasher, graphic designer, art therapist, and substance use disorder counselor in residential rehabilitation programs for both teenagers and adults. These experiences have brought him into close contact with people from widely different backgrounds and continue to inform the subjects, environments, and characters that appear throughout his work
